Wymbourne Knight aka The Gentleman Flyer

Childhood:
Born as Lord and Lady Knight’s only child, Wymbourne spent his formative years on the family estate. Whilst his father was often away on business crucial to the expansion of the British Empire, Wymbourne always understood and enjoyed their time together when he was at home. During his father’s absence, however, Wymbourne also forged a close bond with his mother and to this day he enjoys a healthy and close relationship with both parents. He was schooled privately, by the best tutors that money can buy, and was waited upon by scores of servants. If anything Wymbourne was too protected which might go some way to explain his fascination with adventure and blissful ignorance of danger.

Aspect 1) Lord Of The Manor
Aspect 2) Blindly Optimistic

Great war:
Lying abut his age, Wymbourne entered the Air Corps and soon showed an innate talent for flying machines of all kinds. As such he was quickly approved as a combat ready pilot and took part in a number of daring sorties above and behind enemy lines. He was stationed at any number of bases across Europe and Northern Africa, where his good manners, natural wit and charm made him a hit with the local women, and led to his adopting the nickname ‘The Gentleman Flyer’.

When the British government created a number of developmental programmes, Wymbourne was a natural choice as a test pilot. Unfortunately, many of the experimental aircraft left a lot to be desired, and Wymbourne was forced to become almost as adept at leaping out of planes as he did flying them.

Pulp novel: Wymbourne Knight vs the All-Girl Finishing School of Injustice
Having flown yet another highly successful test-flight of one of Dr. Todorov’s hare-brained inventions deep over enemy territory, our intrepid hero is lighting up a celebratory cigarillo when disaster strikes! A French farmer mistakenly shoots a blunderbuss and strikes a critical fuel line. Stalling out, Wymbourne is able to effect a crash landing in the gardens of a large chateau. After regaining consciousness, the Gentleman Flyer crawls from the wreck to find himself surrounding by a number of fine young maidens in little more than negligés who waste no time in welcoming him inside and tending to his wounds. All is not well, however, in the All Girl Finishing School of Injustice!
